Cleaning vinyl

mrom1234567 What is a good product to clean vinyl seat cusions? 2002-05-06
corby I just cleaned mine up this weekend and I used Simple Green. I think it can be found at most hardware stores. Although I get mine from work, so I'm not sure and I don't know how much. I do know it worked good. 2002-05-06
dwarrick I personally use 3M brand cleaner and conditioner my vinyl is bright white and it has been the only thing that seems to clean the crud off. I also protects from UV my boat is almost 4 years old now but it looks brand new. 2002-05-06
C17LoadSmasher Dwar... where do you get that, I have not seen it around. My vinyl is white too, and I hate that there seems to be some crud that gets in the cracks/texture of the vinyl. TIA... 2002-05-06
martyscher I agree with the Simple Green. It does a great job on bait grime and road grease

Sam's Club sells a gallon of concentrate for under $10. IT seems like it'll dilute enough to fill a 55 gallon drum!!

Hit the vinyl with AmorAll afterwards.

crab bait I had seats uphosterd an the man said not to use any armorall stuff it does nothin' but cook vinyl in the sun... it's the worst thing for vinyl.. he said to use only a uv protector like " 303 " .. for cleaning a 50/50 mix of bleach & simple green .. 2002-05-06
boats4ever Crab Bait.........u sure about the 50/50 mix on Simple Green and BLEACH? 2002-05-10
crab bait YES SIR,, not much else like it.. a very powerful cleaner.. it won't hurt nuttin',, vinly's not dyed cotton..iuse it on my dark green vinly all the time cause it's what I clean the whole boat with a 50/50 mix.. everthing gets sprayed & mop sponged ,, but I do rinse off evrything with a hose, tho.. just like washin' a car 2002-05-10

Hard to argue with a "professional" seat guy, but armorall has always had UV protection.

Applied it regularly to a vinyl dashboard and truck seats. No cracking or fading in 18 years.

The simple green and bleach kinda scares me too.
Didn't they warn us in basic training abbout mixing bleach and ?????? [Smile]

crab bait Yea , my vinly guy was very attamint about this.. goin' on an on about how bad armorall is an how it's like puttin' butter on meat in afryin' pan.. on an on . NO , THAT'S BLEACH & AMMONIA is BAD NEWS.. tellin' you guys, this 50/50 mix of simple green & bleach is the the poop !! it's safe an works like no other !! CRABBY, ain't steered nobody wrong ,yet .. an wouldn't do it now.. it's my favorite boat cleaner , big time.. supposeably, armorall has a lot of silcone an that's supposeably very bad for vinly , some how... 2002-05-10
djohns19 Agree with Simple Green, never tried mixing it with bleach. [Confused]

I like STP Son of a Gun, it is the only one out there that is petroleum based-no alcohol. The alcohol in the others tends to pull the moisture out of vinyl-thus cracks.
