Removing power trim unit

elflanders I have a Mercury outboard 100HP, 1988 model with an oil leak. The H oil is coming back up into the trim motor and leaking in the water.
I pulled the trim motor off and sanded the brushs and cleaned it up but after a couple of uses it stopped working again.
I use the boat very little and could live without power trim but I cannot get the main piston loose from the motor. It looks like a steel pin but it does not move when I punch it. Any suggestings?
Thanks

Franki Ohh boy, if that's anything like mine was, you are in for a big fight...

It took me ages of bashing, lubing and much profanity to get my whole trim system out.. and I damaged a couple of bolts which I had to replace.. they just lock up solid in there, things you can do is use penetrating oil, (for days) mild heat. lotsa bashing and the above mentioned profanity..

I'd just get a new motor for your pump and get the ram seals replaced, (if it is the seals have you checked the connections? mine had a leak that tightning fixed.)

have a look on ebay, they have lots of motors in there fairly cheap.

Hooty You also may want to check with your local NAPA store. They handle t&t motors and stuff.

elflanders Frank's method worked. A lot of bashing to get it loose.
Thanks
