Noise gremlins in control box??

kloot The problem is on an 89 Forrester with a Johnson V-4 90 HP Outboard.
I am hearing a beeping type of sound, I could best describe as a horn that is out of tune, coming from the OMC throttle control box. There is a definite vibration on the throttle control when the noise is heard. I've never heard this before (just got this boat a few weeks ago). It sounds every couple of minutes for a very short time - less than 1 second. Could it be an alarm for the oil tank? If not - any ideas as to what it is?

Capt. Bob There is a warning device in some controllers.

My Evinrude control has the device and according to the manual it is a temperature warning buzzer in boats from 48-235 hp from 1973 to 1990. There is a temperature sensor on the engine. Maybe your sensor has gone south or a short has developed? Hope that is some help.

hw8478 It is a warning from either you VRO (oil mix for the engine) or the engine is overheating. Could mean major problems ($$$$$) if you ignor. Check your manual. 2002-07-30
