Cleaning aluminum hulls

susandingo Am running an unpainted aluminum bass tracker in salt water. Whats the best way to clean this hull. The boat is washed down after use, however this is not removing all of the stains. 2002-08-14
KCLOST Use an acid based Aluminum Hull cleaner....

I don't have the brand name of the stuff I used on my Bass Tracker but it works great....

This stuff applied at full strength cleans up aluminum immediately and really makes it look good. Wear rubber gloves and eye protection ... Follow the directions, you don't want the acid to have a long time to work into your rivets...

KCLOST I'll check the Brand name when I get home and post it tonight.... 2002-08-14
KCLOST Alright guys, I have the brand name...

It's called.... ZING Formula IV made by Zing Products out of St. Louis....

One thing I'd like to mention is that after you use this stuff or something like it that is acid based, you will want to wax it or seal it with one of those hundreds of protectors out on the market...
Otherwise the raw aluminum will get discolored immediately when you put it back in the water, not badly but you will notice it below the water line...Maybe in salt water it's not so bad however.
