Power steering

geronimo Have a 34FT scarab with twin 454 BIG BLOCKS and only starboard engine has power steering . how can I install power steering to other engine 2002-11-14
boater4life You don't need power steering for the other engine. The one operates both. Save your self some money and spend it on fuel. 2002-11-14

azboatman You cannot put a power steering pump on the other engine. if you do you will be forever wiping up p/s fluid out of your bilge. they won't pump at the same pressure so one pump will constantly be over filling the other. you can't run the steering to the drives on separate pumps either, because the differences in control will quickly destroy things back there. when you run one engine, run the one with the p/s pump. if that motor goes out, use the trim tabs, brute force, and a bucket, towel, or sea anchor draging behind you to help with steerage. drive slow. 2002-12-29
